Today's prompt came from Frank Montesonti, the challenge was to create an erasure poem from a piece of text and highlight the different 'voices' within. Not sure that I managed that aspect but I did manage to create my first ever erasure poem and considering I've been travelling most of the day, that's not bad going for someone who thought she'd miss this prompt.
I took my text from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness (via Project Gutenberg)
The dark places of the earth
Followed the worst
… a wanderer
Ignorance is the mistress
Of his existence
A casual simplicity
Foreign faces veiled by
Unfold the secret worth knowing
The whole meaning
Enveloping these misty halos,
The spectral illumination of moonshine
A writer - I think that says it all.
